15 – Levada Curral dos Romeiros
We start the Levada Curral dos Romeiros in Curral dos Romeiros, Monte parish, which is 600 meters above sea level. From this location, we have a privileged view over the beautiful bay of Funchal.
We will have a full perspective of Madeira’s capital that is composed of a dense set of buildings and in the background, we can see the deep blue of the Atlantic Ocean.
This trail follows Levada dos Tornos for 6 km. The path is easy and flat.
Along the way, we will have the opportunity to see several types of large trees, such as eucalyptus trees, acacia trees, laurel trees, and pine trees.
Between Abril and October, it might be possible to observe the monarch butterfly, an easily recognizable black, orange and white butterfly.
We finish this lovely walk by a tea house, when it is open we can have a break, drink some tea and enjoy the surrounding nature.
